Edfast
Norway’s AI sovereignty infrastructure
Norway’s AI sovereignty infrastructure

We don’t build Norway’s next frontier model. We build the layer that decides when foreign models are allowed, and proves it.

Vakt routes every AI request to the right jurisdiction, in the right language, at the lowest acceptable carbon cost. Each response carries three cryptographically signed receipts — built to support the GDPR Article 30, AI Act, and CSRD evidence your compliance team has to keep.

🛡

Vakt

The router. Decides which model handles each call based on jurisdiction, data class, language, and carbon target. Routes to OpenAI, Anthropic, or a Norwegian-hosted model. Auto-generates GDPR Article 30, AI Act Article 12, and CSRD records.

  • · sovereignty-aware routing
  • · three signed receipts per response
  • · auto-generated compliance artefacts
🗣

Stemme

The Norwegian dialect speech layer. We don’t build a Norwegian foundation model. NB-AI-lab, NorwAI, and SCRIBE already publish excellent research. Our role is to turn that openly published work into compliance-grade, dialect-aware product for the regulated verticals.

  • · built on the openly published NB-Whisper
  • · dialect detection (bokmål, nynorsk, trøndersk, sognamål, …)
  • · domain fine-tunes on open Norwegian corpora
🌱

Grønn

Carbon-aware routing and reporting. Norwegian hydro runs at 10 to 25 gCO₂ per kWh. Virginia and Ireland run at 250 to 400. Every receipt cites the grid mix, energy used, and CO₂e, exportable as CSRD-ready quarterly reports.

  • · per-inference CO₂e
  • · ESRS E1 / Scope 3 export
  • · fleet-percentile benchmarking
The Master Plan
  1. 01Ship a sovereignty router with three signed receipts.
  2. 02Use the router’s cash flow and customer access to deepen the Norwegian dialect data moat.
  3. 03Expand into the verticals that legally need it most: legal, healthcare, municipal, defense, and CSRD-reporting listed companies.
  4. 04Reveal the Edfast Node in 2027. A sovereign offline AI device, dev-kit and waitlist.
  5. 05Aim to ship the Node to 50 to 200 units in 2028. Civil defense, defense pilots, command posts, journalists in the field.
  6. 06License Vakt, Stemme, and Grønn as the de facto Norwegian regulated-AI infrastructure.
  7. 07Anchor a Nordic AI sovereignty consortium. The receipts standard travels.

The Node commitment
In 2027 we intend to reveal a sovereign offline AI device for operators who can’t depend on the public cloud being available or permitted — civil defense, field journalists, command posts. It’s on our roadmap now, starting with a prototype and a waitlist; first units intended for 2028.
What we’re building toward

A decade from now Norway will not have its own GPT-5. It will have a regulated-AI infrastructure layer that decides when foreign models are allowed, proves it, transcribes the country in its own dialects, and ships hardware to the operators who keep services running when the cloud will not. That layer is what Edfast is building.

What we won’t do
  • Build our own foundation model. We build the compliance layer above the models, not another model.
  • Call the cryptography a blockchain. It’s Ed25519 signatures and a Merkle log, and we describe it plainly.
  • Sell sovereignty as a slogan. It matters where regulation requires it; our job is to help you meet that requirement.
  • Grow headcount for its own sake. We stay small and focused on shipping.
